About Us
The Spring Valley Elementary School PTA is a branch of the National PTA, which was created in 1897 and is the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation. The PTA reminds our country of its obligations to children and provides parents and families with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of every child.
Mission Statement
The PTA's mission is to positively impact the lives of all children and families by representing our members, provide funds to support 21st century teaching, and create community and encourage involvement through PTA sponsored social activities.
The Spring Valley PTA specifically supports the Spring Valley Elementary School by serving as a liaison between the school administration and parent community, and provides field trips, assemblies, events, and equipment to promote an excellent learning environment for our students. We coordinate our activities and messaging with the other school PTAs in the Millbrae School District, in addition to the Millbrae Education Foundation (MEF).
Core Values
We believe every adult has a responsibility to ensure that all children develop to their full potential.
We believe parents are children’s first teachers and that parent involvement is essential throughout a child’s educational experience.
We believe that family is the basic unit of society responsible for the support and nurturing of all children, and we recognize that “the family” may be defined in many ways.
We believe our responsibility includes advocating for the safety and welfare of all children and the opportunity for a quality public education for each child.
Goals
The goal of the PTA is to build up the Spring Valley community and enrich every student’s experience. Your annual PTA membership of $15, generous donations and volunteer time help us provide resources and Activities that benefit the community and our school.
The PTA fundraising goal for 2023-2024 is $50,000 from sponsorships and donations.
This year, we plan to continue supporting our students and teachers with their classroom and technology needs but also restart some of the in-person school events and Arts & Enrichment activities that we missed last year. In light of ongoing COVID concerns, we also plan to create more outdoor spaces for students to eat, play, and learn safely.
