Volunteer

When parents are more involved, children do better in school.  Kids are more motivated to learn, leading to higher self-esteem and a more fruitful learning experience.  Volunteering is one of the best ways to help build the SV community while supporting our children and our school.

There are multiple ways to get involved and support our children:

Classroom Volunteer Opportunities:  Helping teachers with their classrooms, being room parents for class activities, helping with class projects, and being an extra support to the teacher.

Technology Support Opportunities: For Tech-Savvy parents who can lend a hand to our teachers who may need technical assistance and troubleshooting with Distance Learning (ie. Zoom help, Google Classroom support). Sign up HERE to join the Tech Support team!

Out of School Volunteer Opportunities:  Assisting teachers with prep work, maintaining the garden, and maintaining the PTA website.

PTA Events and Activities:  Fall Welcome Event, Pumpkin Show, Movie Night, Heritage Days, Bingo Night, Food Relief Drive, Book Fair, T-shirts and Yearbooks.

For in-classroom volunteers (including chaperoning field trips), you will need receive Volunteer Clearance from the MESD. This requires a background check, fingerprinting, and negative TB test results/assessment. This process only needs to be completed once during your children's entire tenure through middle school.

For more information about whether an opportunity requires Volunteer Clearance, please see here and here. To get started on the clearance process, please fill out a Volunteer Clearance Authorization Form and TB Risk Assessment Form.
