Help Strengthen our School By Volunteering

When parents are more involved, children do better in school. Kids are more motivated to learn, leading to higher self-esteem and a more fruitful learning experience.Volunteering is one of the best ways to help build the SV community while supporting our children and our school. There are multiple ways to get involved and support our children.

In School Volunteer Opportunities: Helping teachers in their classrooms, chaperoning field trips, being room parents for class parties, teaching art-in-action, helping with class projects, improving the library, and being on lunch and recess duty.

Out of School Volunteer Opportunities: Assisting teachers with prep work, maintaining the garden, and maintaining the PTA website.

PTA Events and Activities: Fall Fiesta, Pumpkin Show, Movie Night, Heritage Days, International Heritage Dinner, Bingo Night, Canned Food Drive, Book Fair, T-shirts, Yearbooks, Drama, Field Day.

To volunteer in the classroom on a regular basis including chaperoning field trips, you will need to complete a Background Check and be fingerprinted by the MESD. This process only needs to be completed once during your children's entire tenure through middle school. For more info on who needs to be fingerprinted, click here. To get started on that process, please fill in a Volunteer Clearance Form.
